How to Upgrade Your Brand (no matter how old your business)

If you’ve been in business for any amount of time, you’ve experienced the challenges of building and maintaining your brand. Unfortunately, it becomes too easy to ignore brand messaging because time is dedicated to dealing with urgent issues.

At Brockman Trailers, we’re no stranger to the challenge of keeping your brand standards. We’ve worked hard to keep our brand consistent and relevant. Here are some steps we try to take consistently to keep our brand both current and consistent.

Remember Who You Are (or who you were meant to be)

If you have brand and vision statements written on a napkin from your early days, dig it up. If you have thoughts saved on a file on your computer about who you are or who you wanted to be, find it. It’s worth assessing who you are and how you got to where you are. It’s worth having a standard that you’re measuring yourself against. If you don’t have anything, it’s worth spending time to discover it.

Solicity Honest Feedback (and be willing to hear the truth)

How is your brand being perceived? No matter how long you’ve been in business, everything you say and do must always reflect the core of your identity. If something you’re doing is communicating something contrary to your identity, you need to reassess your messaging. For instance, consider a company who claims to value “quality” having typos or broken links on their website. The experience with the brand will be different than the intention of the brand.

Engage a Professional (or at least engage someone with vision)

What are some ways you can clean up your brand expression? Are there changes you can make to your logo or language? Do you need a refreshed expression of your brand? Sometimes an outside perspective is just what you need to give your brand a relevant update.

Your brand is not a “set it and forget it” thing in business. It needs to be understood. It needs to be articulate and managed. As time passes by in your business, you need to keep those standards front and center.

As you manage your business and your operation, let Brockman Trailers help you solve your facility limitations and planning.
